Exhibition with Yvonne Dalschen and Susie Fienberg open October 4th - December 2nd, 2026

Congratulations to Kinship member Yvonne Dalschen for her current exhibition alongside Susie Feinberg. This show is on display at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Gallery hours: 9:30am - 4:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 9:00am – 1:00pm Sundays. Gallery closed Fridays.

Free Residency for Dog-Sitting Work Exchange: November 23rd - 30th, 2026

Kinship Studio needs a housesitter/dog sitter for one week in November (overlapping Thanksgiving). Your primary responsibility is to be a companion to our resident dog. We are looking for someone who loves dogs and enjoys being accompanied in your studio, on hikes, and while you photograph. If you want to stay for an additional week or two (the dog-sitting week is free), you can extend your stay at a discounted rate. Your stay at Kinship studio includes a private room and access to the studio(s) of your choice.

Man In Motion - Phillip Leonian

Photographer Phillip Leonian is best known for depicting physical action over time, which he called “time/space imagery.” Leonian’s photographs were created long before the advent of Photoshop and digital resolution. As such, every image was made on a single negative, using a film camera—making time visible in every frame. Man in Motion is available free of charge to non-profit institutions such as museums and 501(c)3 organizations that teach or exhibit photography.

The Grieve Project is a multimedia project through the Hunter Writers’ Center that aims to bring people back into connection through storytelling. Congratulations to Kinship Member Sarah Barker for her inclusion in the Grieve Project this year with her photozine, How to Carry Grief, and her mixed-media video ‘End. Of. Story.’

Documentary Screening 9/22 at 7pm EDT in Asheville, NC

STRAY EMBERS follows a fifth-generation Paradise, California resident who saves his home during the 2018 Camp Fire and opens his doors to more than 20 displaced neighbors, friends, and their dogs, creating an improvised, multi-generational household. Filmed over five years, the film traces how this community rebuilds not just their homes, but their sense of belonging to one another.

Like photography, the imagery and language of poetry can take us into time, out of time, beyond time. Heather Swan's poetry investigates the mysteries of human presence in landscapes of deep time, insect time, lake time, times of grief and times of elation. She will share poems and approaches that overlap the art of image-making with the lens and image-making with words.

The Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center (CSAHC) is announcing a call to artists for their SPOTFIN: Art and Nature Gathering. Artists are invited to submit up to three works that can be loosely inspired by the title and theme of the exhibit and the gathering, which will include nature and art-based workshops, hikes, guest lecturers, and more. June 22-26, 2026 - Sante Fe Workshops

Register for a week-long workshop with artist and educator Anna Rotty that uses iterative processes in photography and digital printmaking in collaboration with the land. Moving between the land and the studio, participants will remix digital images and prints with found natural elements.

Limited Edition Book

Initiation is an artist book by Paula Damasceno featuring 26 Risograph-printed pages that bring text and image into a tactile sequence. Written across English, Yoruba, Portuguese, and Spanish, it draws together Orisha iconographies and mythologies with layered histories of the Americas. Risograph reproductions of original tintypes suggest offerings made to the Orishas by unidentifiable, and at times absent, subjects.

June 22-26, 2026 9am-12pm at Toe River Arts Council

Registration is open for this youth summer camp through the Toe River Arts Council. Explore photo zines as a way to document daily life and tell visual stories. Campers will learn basic photography, collage techniques, and bookmaking while studying contemporary and historical photographers who use zines in their practice. Each student will create a handmade zine filled with photographs taken throughout the week.

This marks Roe’s third exhibition with the gallery and brings together works spanning almost five years of activity from the artist’s indefinitely ongoing series, DESCENT ≈ An Atlas of Relation, a collective archive of earth, plant, and animal forms living and dying together across both great and small distances.
