For the last several years, Phil Lewenthal has concentrated on a project photographing the interplay of the elements on California’s north coast. In recent months, a spontaneous and even chaotic urban project has emerged (perhaps not coincidentally) as he engaged with The Elemental Year practice groups.

Lewenthal has had work accepted for numerous exhibits, including Photoplace Gallery in Vermont, the Southeast Center for Photography, the A. Smith Gallery, and the Griffin Museum of Photography. He was a Critical Mass Top 200 finalist in 2023 and 2025.
