It’s all Relative: An Archiving Time Circle Back

It’s all Relative: An Archiving Time Circle Back

Join us via Zoom - Wednesday, October 21st, at 7 pm ET

How might spending time in our archives reveal hidden narratives about time itself? Might abstractions offer views into deep time? Might our earliest images of family reveal long-buried memories? In this continued exploration of objects as portals to memory and meaning, photographers in the Archiving Time With Time in the Archive practice group were invited to hang out with and excavate meaning from past photographs. During our short introductory ‘scavenger hunt’ we explored the following topics: Place, Person, Object, Idea/Emotion. As we did, our unique stories emerged – from the joy and grief of loving and learning to let go of our children or of a beloved place, to the rediscovery of a lifelong fascination with the moon, from unexpected stories in a box of archival family portraits to an ongoing relationship with a particular body of water.

Together we will question how our relationships to images change over time and what happens when we pair images from different times.
