Photo Transfers! - Skill Share with Kaye Savage & Sarah Shea Roberto
Photo Transfers! - Skill Share with Kaye Savage & Sarah Shea Roberto
Join us via Zoom - Wednesday, October 14th, at 7 pm ET
Photography transfer methods bring unique tactile methods to our practice while providing opportunities to work with photographs on a variety of media that may not be suitable for direct printing. Layering, partial prints, and textural exploration offer an endless palette for creativity and new ways to think about the role of time in our photographic work.
Kaye Savage and Sarah Shea Roberto will each share techniques and tips for making photo transfers using a variety of methods–alongside images and processes shared from the Kinship community (see submission details below).
Together, we will explore how using photo transfer techniques asks us to imagine, ideate, and spend time with our images in new ways as we pair them with different substrates. How can photo transfers engage us with concepts of time through layering, peeling, partial prints, and choices of materials?
Please share your photo transfer practice with us. We would love to include your work and your experiences during our skill share. Please submit up to five JPEG photographs by clicking here. Deadline: October 12th at 11 pm ET.
Kaye Savage is interested in intersections of science and art, using handmade paper, photography, and mixed media to explore place-based themes. She is especially intrigued by landscape patterns, natural materials including fiber and soil, and visual representations of data. Her past research in environmental geochemistry, and her current art practice, are explorations of chemical, physical, and biological interactions across multiple scales of time and space. She also engages in contemplative photographic practice, rooted in wonder. @savage.kaye
