Archiving Time With Time in the Archive with Lyn Swett Miller

How might spending time in our archives reveal hidden narratives about time itself? Might abstractions offer views into deep time? Might our earliest images of family reveal long-buried memories? In this continued exploration of objects as portals to memory and meaning, Archiving Time With Time in the Archive is an invitation to hang out with and excavate meaning from past photographs.
This introductory six week prompt-based practice group will pay attention to particular categories of images drawn from the time-based themes we have been exploring during these past few months. In particular, we will consider the over-arching question of how our relationship to time shapes our approach to our own humanity, the land, and our connections with our more-than-human kin.
As always, working with me is about play. Each week we will show up for each other and our work with curiosity, compassion and joy.
Please note: This group is a prerequisite for three 8-week groups I will lead later this fall, this winter and next spring.
Kinship uses a pay-what-you-can honor system with a minimum donation of $60. The actual cost for a 5-6 week practice group is $125. Donations below $125 are being subsidized by Kinship. Please give as generously as you can. If you cannot afford the minimum donation of $60 please request a scholarship.
Lyn Swett Miller is a Vermont-based photographer and speaker whose work explores curiosity, compost, and connection as forces for renewal. Miller’s photographs invite reflection and conversation about transformation and care. An active participant with Kinship since 2023, she has guided numerous practice groups exploring loss and grief and the power of objects as portals to memory and meaning.
