Summer Solstice Solargram Kit

$0.00

Solargrams are a simple and unique photographic process that uses a lensless pinhole camera, black and white photo paper, and very long exposures (days, weeks, etc) that track the sun as it crosses the sky–preserving the movement of the sun in real time and embedding it in the photo paper. It is fascinating and magical; the results are unpredictable.

Would you like to join in a community photo ritual and mark the summer solstice with us? Our solargrams experiments will be gathered together and featured on our website.

In the Northern Hemisphere, summer solstice is June 21st. If you live in the United States, you can purchase this kit (generously assembled by Donna Moore) and we will get it shipped to you in time. No special chemicals are needed, everything you need to make the solargram will be in the box along with written instructions (you will need a digital camera, camera phone, or scanner to scan the finished solargram ).

For those who live outside the US we will be posting free how-to videos on our website to walk you through the process of making your own solargram camera. This was a spur of the moment inspiration, next time we will make sure to leave plenty of time to mail kits internationally.

One per person please. Each photographer will be asked to contribut their photographs for our website.
