Retreats

Retreats are core to Kinship’s mission to support artists at all stages of their practice. Our retreat programs are designed to meet you right where you are in your creative process and can range from completely independent to fully facilitated.

Independent retreats are completely self-guided and include the use of your chosen studio or darkroom. On the day you arrive, we will help you settle in, give you a tour of the facilities, answer any questions about house rules and studio/darkroom procedures, and then leave you to your work.

Facilitated retreats are perfect for individuals who may need a refresher, want to learn or refine a skill, need assistance designing or curating a project, or who enjoy guidance, structure, inspiration, or feedback while they work. The level of facilitation is up to you and can range from one hour to the entire visit. If you are interested in learning more about facilitated retreats or private workshops, please indicate that on your retreat request form.

Can anyone apply? Yes, retreat slots are non-competitive and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. First, learn more about the house, rooms, studios, and darkroom. Next read What You Should Know Before Visiting, and then fill out the retreat request form. Our retreat coordinator will schedule a brief phone or Zoom conversation to answer any questions, learn more about your creative needs, and, most importantly, make sure that Kinship Studio is the right fit for your retreat goals.
