The 2023 Global Earth Exchange: Speak Grief, Speak Beauty!
The 2023 Global Earth Exchange: Speak Grief, Speak Beauty!
Saturday, June 17th 2023, Worldwide
On this day we come together to grieve what’s vanishing from the places we love—and exult in the beauty that remains!
For 14 years people around the world have been going to places they care about that are damaged or endangered, sharing what they love about those places, and making gifts of gratitude to them. This year on Saturday, June 17th, The Global Earth Exchange will continue this tradition.
Kinship photographers are invited to join The Global Earth Exchange by attending to and making photographs in hurt and wounded places. Together we will honor the amazing ability of the Earth to find ways of prevailing during hard times while turning our attention not just to what is hurt in these places we care about, but also to what is thriving and beautiful.
The Global Earth Exchange has 5 suggested steps:
Go to a wounded place.
Sit awhile and reflect on what the place means to you.
Spend some time getting to know the place as it is now.
Share what you discovered.
Make a gift of beauty (we will be creating photographs) for the place (but also feel free to create and leave other gifts as well).
If you're unable to do your Global Earth Exchange June 17, just make you visit during the week of June 13-21, if possible. The Earth welcomes gifts of beauty at any time!
When you've completed your event, post your story and photos on The Global Earth Exchange Share-a-Story form, and your story will appear on the Radical Joy for Hard Times website. Kinship will also be creating a gallery of the photographs you created on our website. To be featured on the Kinship website please share your photographs and reflections on Kinship Circle.
