Sky Kin: Bird Appreciation and Skill Share

Sky Kin: Bird Appreciation and Skill Share with Teresa Kopec

Join us via Zoom Wednesday, May 14th, 7 pm EDT

As we continue to explore Air as a community, this week we will be looking to those kin who have an intimate understanding of this element (beyond human understanding), birds. Join us as Teresa Kopec presents bird appreciation and a skill share to encourage us to consider how we can better relate to our sky kin.

Teresa Kopec has been photographing birds internationally and in her own backyard for years. In this talk she will share experiences and tips on connecting with these magnificent creatures of the Air through observation and photography.

Together we will be also be exploring photography’s role as a bridge between the public and the natural world to lead to an interest in protecting our remaining natural spaces and turning our yards into a place where our native pollinators can thrive.

This conversation will be facillitated by Kaye Savage.

Teresa Kopec has worked in public health and human services in the Upstate of South Carolina for many years and has a  strong commitment to improving community health. She is also a passionate amateur birder and photographer who enjoys escaping the pressures of work by being in the natural world. She combines her knowledge of avian behavior and habitats to capture intimate portraits of bird life and behavior.

Teresa enjoys sharing her love of birds and photography with others. As a stock photographer for Getty Images her work has been featured in publications as diverse as the Encyclopedia Brittanica,  Cambridge University Press,  Texas Monthly and ESPN Sports Network as well as on the walls of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
