Kinship Studio: Retreats, Workshops & Residencies

Kinship Studio: Retreats, Workshops & Residencies

Join us via Zoom Wednesday, August 13th, at 7 pm EDT

Please join us this week to help shape our emerging retreat, workshop, and residency center in Cumberland, MD. Over the last six months we have been renovating a glorious but once neglected home, and now it is time to turn our attention towards designing studios, digital labs, darkrooms, and private retreat spaces. We envision a place where artists have affordable access to the tools, support, and time they need to do their best work. Maybe you learn best in small groups, or thrive in open, curious communities. Or like so many of us, need an affordable way to print and share work, or take a deep dive into an emerging project in a supportive environment.

In our rapidly polarizing world, where empathy and understanding are in short supply—and so much of what we love is threatened—we need art and artists now more than ever. Transforming our relationships with the human and more-than-human world will require new ways of seeing and responding. Who better than artists, to usher in transformative change? We need each other and we want to know how we can best support your practice.

We would be so grateful if you could join us this week and share your needs, inspiration, opinions, and ideas. We will also be sharing news about upcoming invitations for work exchange residencies.

As the founder and director of Makers Circle, Susan Patrice designs and implements arts-informed community initiatives in partnership with non-arts organizations who want to expand their reach and impact through innovative cross-sector collaboration. Makers Circle has a deep passion for the power of the creative process to encourage adaptive change, expand awareness, and open up new ways of seeing and relating. We believe that the arts and artists should play a major role in community regeneration and non-profit advancement. Web design and digital storytelling are foundational to the work we do with non-profits.
