Elementals: Fire
Elementals: Fire
Join us via Zoom Wednesday, June 18th, 7 pm EDT
We’ve spent the past few months exploring the vast spaciousness of air, particularly how this more ethereal element informs our photographic practices, encouraging our imaginations to thrive. As we are buoyed forth by ineffable winds into our next elemental season, the fuel we have gathered is invited to spark into creative flame during Fire, the second element in Kinship’s year-long exploration of an elemental life.
Join Kinship members Paul Wanta, Sarah Barker, and Frances Bukovsky as they share how fire has lived in and shaped their lives. We hope you will join us as we share images, quotes, and questions that breathe life into our practice and light the creative flames for this upcoming season.
If fire speaks, what is it saying to us, especially in an era of climate breakdown and mass extinction? In what ways do the many manifestations of fire bring us in closer relationship with our earthly kin? How can photography help us keep and tend to our elemental relations with care? And how might our photography practices inspire us to sustain our own internal fires when darkness descends?
We invite you to consider these questions with us and engage in a rich conversation about fire in all of its forms. Summer practice groups will be introduced by the facilitators during this presentation and registration will be live.
