In this Place is an ongoing project that celebrates the intimate and familiar places near Paul Wanta’s home in Wendell, Massachusetts. As an experienced wildlife tracker, Paul is especially attuned to capturing subtle changes and nuances within the specific parameters of the places he thoughtfully wanders. This wandering way of making images is beautifully mirrored in this watery collection of work and the unique ways in which Paul captures movement or the illusion of movement in his photographs.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Paul Wanta is a photographer, writer and wildlife tracker living in Wendell, Massachusetts. Nature-based imagery is central to his practice, with a current focus primarily on one area, stream, and tree. In addition to his photography practice, writing is essential to how he contemplates his relationships with his immediate surroundings. For Paul, the image itself is a showing, and by combining words and images, both are deepened.
