The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts, Highlands, North Carolina

Beginning in January 2023, the 32 photographers featured in this exhibition were invited to explore and reflect upon 112-miles of the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail.  Listening to the Land features photography and photo-based installations that celebrate this region’s rich biodiversity while honoring each person’s unique and emergent relationship with the land. Together these artists contemplated their own wild origins while visually reimagining a time when humans moved in respect, harmony, and co-creative kinship with the natural world

This practice group is for photographers working on the Listening to the Land: Reimagining the Bartram Trail project. We meet every other week to share our photographs, expand our resources, and find inspiration from peers, mentors, and curators as we prepare The Bascom exhibition.
