Glenn DeRosa shared an intimate project with us on the Kinship Circle. Glenn writes: “this project is a collection of notes written to me from my parents while i was between the ages of 7 and 15, i saved most of them in a small wooden treasure box. some are dated as my mom had a habit of doing that with notes, cards and books she gave me. i photographed each note on her desk, which she handed down to me years ago. i remember the story she told me about how she came to purchase it sometime in the 1950's. ''it belonged to a gangster [in newark where we lived when i was small], his name was longie zwillman, i bought it from his girlfriend.'' as a teenaged boy, longie zwillman is a name you don't forget. ''i always thought it would have a secret compartment,'' she said. the desk is a treasure to me as well as the many notes i still have.”
Morgain Bailey shared a link to the Spirit In The Land exhibit at Duke University. From Morgain: “This looks like an amazing show for anyone who will be able to visit the Nasher Museum. I listened to this wonderful interview with Monique Verdin, hosted by Tyler Green on his podcast Modern Art Notes. If you can't see the show, definitely check out the website and listen to this podcast.”
